The Footnote midterm ballot guide. General election of Nov 3, 2026.

Everything on your ballot. Explained.

Pick your state, then your county, then narrow it to your district. Every race and every measure gets two layers: the record, written straight and footnoted, and our take, labeled as ours.

How this guide works

The record

What it is, written straight.

What the office does or what the measure changes, who is running, and what a Yes or a No vote does. Every claim is sourced to a primary record or to on-record reporting. If you only want the facts, stop here.

Our take

What we think, labeled as ours.

We are not neutral about this election. We think a Republican win at any level this year puts democratic government at risk, and where a race or measure bears on that, we say so and show the record behind it. Our take always sits under the record, never inside it.

The count

Live results, kept apart.

On election night every race gets its own tracker page with the count, its source and its time. The tracker carries no opinions. See live results.

How to check us

Your official ballot wins.

Your county election office publishes your exact sample ballot. If it and this guide ever disagree, trust the county and tell us at corrections@thefootnote.news. Corrections are dated and listed on the page they fix.
